Bountiful extras include 17 featurettes, BD-Live (internet access to online chat, trivia games and more), and a five-minute sneak peek at Angels & Demons, Howard’s followup (actually a prequel) due in theaters May 15. The Blu-ray presentation is excellent, with gorgeous picture and sound (the better to try to penetrate Tautou’s French accent). The score is middling Zimmer, with his (and Howard’s) best moment in the epilogue, as Hanks returns to the Louvre where all the madness started. Plus Hanks seems strangely subdued here (guess you can’t blame him when he’s saddled with lines line “I need a library, fast!”). I wouldn’t go that far, but Akiva Goldsman’s screenplay adaptation leeched most of the thrills out of that page-turner. There are some who felt that Dan Brown’s original book was unfilmable. The Lost Symbol feels like a fresh new take on Dan Brown’s work, virtually immortalized now in the films of Ron Howard. The extra footage helps the viewer better follow the story, but it also makes the whole experience more tedious. Bursts of action are interrupted by lengthy periods of exposition. Why is The Da Vinci Code rated PG-13 The PG-13 rating is for disturbing images, violence, some nudity, thematic material, brief drug references and sexual content.Latest news about The Da Vinci Code, starring Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou and directed by Ron Howard.
THE DA VINCI CODE MOVIE REVIEW MOVIE
There’s 28 minutes of new footage added to a movie that was already 2 ½ hours. The Da Vinci Code has strange rhythms for a thriller. The Da Vinci Code is a dismal and disappointing thriller that is more insulting for its poor scripting than its theological pretentions. Hanks is a noted symbologist who teams up with a police cryptologist (Tautou) to solve a murder at the Louvre they end up attempting to solve “the biggest cover-up in human history!” Extended version of the 2006 hit is a double-edged sword.
